Don't resort to abortion. It's not right.
Abortion is a procedure that millions of women go through every year, usually as a result of an unwanted pregnancy. This is the equivalent of killing millions of innocent human lives. Do you really want it be responsible for killing your own child? According to the Mayo Clinic, a fetus has already developed its brain, spinal cord, and other organs by the third week of the first trimester. Therefore, you are not just getting rid of a cell, you are killing a human being. Even abortionist are uncertain about abortion operations. As Dr. Benjamin Kalish said, "Even now I feel a little peculiar about it, because as a physician I was trained to conserve life, and here I am destroying it." Life is meant to be preserved, not destroyed, especially if the life has barely started.
Imagine feeling guilty for the rest of your life because of this one decision. Guilt and regret are not the only things that come with having an abortion. In fact, having an abortion is even more risky than childbirth. Abortion comes with the possibility of receiving medical complications including: heavy bleeding, tearing of the wall of the uterus, tearing of the cervix, and even the incomplete removal of the unborn child which results in additional operations. Having an abortion isn't worth it, so don't do it.
Zinsser's Teachings:
I used contractions, colons, and active verbs as Zinsser had advised. I used contractions to further express my personality in my writing. The use of contractions in my editorial is clear and the audience knows what I mean. I also used colons to list the possible medical complications. It helped me organize my thoughts in my writing. Lastly, the active verbs in the text helps me make my point more precise and it allows the audience to visualize what they would be doing, which is killing another human being . The use of the colon, contraction and "that" helped my writing be more clear and organized for my audience to understand .

ReplyDeleteI like the way you established pathos by posing a question towards your audience. Also i like how you included a quote from the doctors perspective, this really helps the reader realize there are different view points of abortion.
